The Hungerford Angling Association (HCAA) owns the fishing rights for the 3 mile stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal running through Hungerford. This section of canal does have some areas where you are not allowed to fish, namely all the wharf areas and locks, but the remaining areas you are able to fish are packed full of fish.
The section running through Hungerford itself is very picturesque and dotted with parked up canal boats, where as the lower section is more set in the countryside and becomes much wider in places.
The canal water is often clear and provides a wonderful habitat for fish and wildlife.
The canal in Hungerford is home to Perch, Pike, Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Ruffe, Gudgeon and Bream.
We are particularly proud of the following specimen catches -
A good day on the Hungerford Canal is a REALLY good day!....Expect the usual canal fishing fodder as far as species and fish goes, but with the much great chance of catching a few very special fish indeed.....In all, it's a wonderful walk along the Hungerford Canal. It's a beautiful heritage area and there is lots to see, especially the wildlife and if you habe a personal best fish like a Perch, Roach, Carp of Ruffe that is very low, I think this is the place to beat it!

"The Hungerford Canal is one special fishery. Whilst fishing here I have beat my PB Roach, Perch and Ruffe so I hold this venue very highly indeed. A really cracking venue and well worth a visit.
